Bancha is a summertime green tea from Japan noted for its grassy flavor and no smokiness. A brew that is light and a great choice for a traditional green tea.
Use 1 tsp per 6 oz cup, heat water to 170° steep for 1-2 minutes.
Green tea was first introduced in Japan by the Japanese monks studying in China over 1000 years ago. It was first enjoyed exclusively by the religious classes of Japanese society but soon spread to royalty and other elite classes when cultivation began.
