But with today’s diverse tea connoisseur’s, chai can be based with green, white, rooibos or herbal leaf combinations. It is traditionally served with milk and sugar or honey. Chai is considered the “National Drink” in India and Sri Lanka. Often a lower quality tea is used to make chai since the strong flavors of the spices can cover-up any deficiencies.
